Selective laser trabeculoplasty

This laser is a very gentle procedure. Gentle laser burns are aimed at the trabecular meshwork. This opens up the meshwork, so the aqueous can then drain out of the eye more easily.

  • it is used for chronic open angle glaucaoma
  • it is available at Birmingham and Midland eye Centre
  • It is used when treatment with one or two drops do not lower the pressure enough
  • it is not suitable for end-stage glaucoma

 slt laser is gentle, and can lower the pressure in the eye (it allows the aqueous fluid to drin out of the eye)
